2. The album introduces the saxophonist's best known composition, "Footprints," an abstract tribute to John Coltrane, "Chief Crazy Horse" and a haunting ballad, "Teru." With Wayne Shorter cementing a musical friendship/partnership with Herbie Hancock that continues to this day, he creates a masterpiece that ranks among a handful of superb albums.

With the possible exception of its song, "Footprints," which would become a jazz standard, Adam's Apple received quite a bit less attention upon its release than some of the preceding albums in Wayne Shorter's catalog. That is a shame because it really does rank.

6. The Saxophone playing of Wayne Shorter has been a favorite of mine for years. This album is one I've listened to on vinyl, casset, and now CD. This is a wonderful set of tunes from Wayne, and describes a period of Jazz that was perhaps the golden age of the style in my book at least.
